Young Professional Officer – Nutrition and Food Systems

About the role

The Young Professional Officer (Nutrition and Food Systems) will support the FAO Subregional Office for West Africa in integrating nutrition-sensitive approaches into agriculture and food systems programmes across the region.

Key responsibilities

• Assist in integrating nutrition-sensitive agriculture and food systems approaches into FAO programmes and projects in West Africa.
• Support the preparation of project concept notes, proposals and technical inputs aligned with national nutrition priorities and international frameworks.
• Provide technical back‑stopping to country offices, including review of proposals, data collection tools and field visit reports.
• Facilitate regular meetings of nutrition focal points, promote multi‑sectoral collaboration and contribute to the development of regional nutrition action plans.

Required profile

• Advanced university degree (Master’s) in Nutrition, Food Science, Food Security, Agriculture, Public Health or a related field.
• At least one year of relevant experience in nutrition‑sensitive programming, food security or agricultural development, preferably in developing countries.
• Proficiency in English and intermediate knowledge of another FAO official language (e.g., French).
• Age 32 years or younger as of 31 December of the application year.
