About the role
The Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA) is seeking a Humanitarian Affairs Officer to lead the scale‑up and mainstreaming of the anticipatory approach in West and Central Africa. Based in Dakar, the officer will support OCHA’s mission to coordinate effective humanitarian action and promote preparedness.
Key responsibilities
- Support the development and implementation of anticipatory humanitarian strategies across the region.
- Report to the Head of the Regional Office for West and Central Africa (ROWCA) and maintain a second reporting line to the Climate and Innovation Section.
- Coordinate with national and international partners to ensure coherent emergency response.
- Contribute to OCHA’s financing and outreach initiatives related to climate‑driven humanitarian risks.
Required profile
- Relevant professional experience in humanitarian affairs, emergency preparedness, or related fields.
- Demonstrated ability to work in a multi‑stakeholder environment at a P3 level.
- Strong understanding of anticipatory approaches and climate‑related humanitarian challenges.
