Mine Planning Superintendent

About the role

The Mine Planning Superintendent leads Life‑of‑Mine and long‑term planning for SMGO, delivering optimized strategic mine development and designs. Reporting to the Mine Technical Services Manager, this senior position ensures that planning, survey, geology, and drill‑and‑blast functions produce accurate, timely plans that boost overall productivity.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and execute annual strategic plans, detailed schedules, and scenario analyses using mine planning optimization tools.
• Produce the annual Life‑of‑Mine budget schedule and provide data to site management.
• Coordinate inputs from geology, processing, mining, and senior business staff for block model optimizations, pit‑shell selection, and cut‑off determinations.
• Lead reserve/resource estimation, reporting, and validation of long‑term and medium‑term block models.
• Maintain quarterly rolling schedules and ensure alignment of medium‑term activities with long‑term objectives.
• Prepare detailed mining budgets and forecasts, and develop medium‑to‑long‑term resource calculations.
• Incorporate regulatory and statutory requirements into plans to minimise risk.
• Identify and implement process improvements, efficiency plans, and cost‑reduction initiatives.
• Manage direct reports, including performance management and career development.

Required profile

• Proven senior leadership experience in mine planning or related technical mining functions.
• Strong strategic and operational expertise with the ability to coordinate cross‑functional inputs.
• Demonstrated ability to manage budgets, forecasts, and long‑term resource models.
• Commitment to occupational health and safety and regulatory compliance.
