Monitoring Assistant (G5-2) – Ziguinchor, Senegal

About the role

The Monitoring Assistant will support the RAM/Programme unit in Ziguinchor, Senegal, ensuring effective implementation of monitoring procedures for the World Food Programme’s food assistance programmes. Working under the direct supervision of the Sub‑office Chief and technical guidance from the RAM unit, the role contributes to data collection, verification and reporting activities.

Key responsibilities

• Assist in planning, conducting and documenting field monitoring missions.
• Collect, validate and enter monitoring data into WFP systems.
• Support the preparation of monitoring reports and dashboards for programme managers.
• Coordinate with field staff, partners and beneficiaries to ensure data quality and compliance with WFP standards.
• Identify and flag inconsistencies or gaps in data and recommend corrective actions.

Required profile

• University degree or equivalent experience in social sciences, development studies, agriculture, or related fields.
• Experience in field monitoring or data collection in humanitarian or development contexts.
• Strong analytical mindset and attention to detail.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a multicultural team.
• Fluency in English; knowledge of French is an advantage.

• Proficiency in data entry and basic spreadsheet tools.
