Regional Programme Coordinator – Route-Based Approach

About the role

The Regional Programme Coordinator will lead the technical operationalisation of IOM’s Route‑Based Approach (RteBA) across migration routes in the region, ensuring alignment with global strategies and delivering high‑quality outcomes.

Key responsibilities

• Provide technical and operational leadership for regional RteBA implementation, coordinating with country offices, regional offices, HQ divisions and global structures.
• Develop and oversee multi‑country, multi‑partner operational plans, ensuring coherence with institutional priorities and donor requirements.
• Manage the RteBA Flexible Funding Mechanism, monitoring delivery, quality and resource issues.
• Serve as the focal point for regional participation in the global RteBA Task Force and lead testing of operational guidance.
• Lead government engagement to anchor route‑based actions in State priorities and support regional consultative processes.

Required profile

• Proven experience in leading complex, multi‑stakeholder programmes in migration, humanitarian or development contexts.
• Strong coordination skills with UN agencies, NGOs, civil society and private sector partners.
• Ability to analyse route‑level data, provide strategic advice and translate operational experience into policy guidance.
• Experience in resource mobilisation, donor engagement and results‑based monitoring.
