Regional Head of Operational Support – Central & West Africa

About the role

The Regional Head of Operational Support will lead the integrated operational management of NRC’s programmes across Central and West Africa, ensuring high‑quality, timely humanitarian response and compliance with organisational standards.

Key responsibilities

• Ensure regional support functions (HR, Finance, ICT, Logistics, Administration, HAS) operate efficiently and collaboratively.
• Hold country offices accountable for operational progress using reports, analyses and compliance data.
• Support country directors and heads of support with capacity‑building and problem‑solving on operational challenges.
• Provide advice and mentorship to operational support teams to develop skills and capabilities.
• Participate in global planning and strategy discussions for support functions.
• Review finance, HR and logistics requirements for regional grants in coordination with the Global PCM and Grants Management unit.
• Act on behalf of the Regional Director, including leading Crisis Management Teams when required.
• Carry out other tasks assigned by the Regional Director.

Required profile

• Minimum 10 years of leadership or management experience in the humanitarian sector.
• Relevant higher education (e.g., business administration, management, finance).
• Proven experience managing support functions such as finance, HR and logistics; security and safety experience is a plus.
• Experience working in complex and volatile contexts with documented results.
• Fluency in English (written and spoken) and French (written and spoken).
• Knowledge of the Central and West Africa context and ability to work with remote teams.
• Strong leadership skills and ability to collaborate with partners and internal stakeholders.
